Your Responsibilities Towards the Club
Members of the Derby Nomad Ramblers Club agree that when leading or taking part in club events that they will act in a manner that will not endanger the safety of themselves or others.
The club, its officers and appointed leaders accept no responsibility for any loss or injury sustained by persons taking part in club activities.
The club is affiliated to the following organisations involved in walking and related activities.
The Ramblers is a charity whose goal is to protect the ability of people to enjoy the sense of freedom and benefits that come from being outdoors on foot. It is an association of groups who come together to both enjoy walking and other outdoor pursuits and also to ensure that we protect and expand the infrastructure places people go walking. The Ramblers publish ‘Walk’ a quarterly magazine distributed to members and is available to read on the website.
The YHA (England & wales) is a charitable organisation providing youth hostel accommodation in England and Wales. A quarterly publication ‘Live More YHA’ is available to download from their website.
The Peak & Northern Footpaths Society
The PNFS promotes the interest of public footpath users in the North Midlands and North West of England. They monitor, protect and improve the footpath network for all.
The Campaign to Protect Rural England
The CPRE is a charity that works locally and nationally to stand up for the countryside to protect it from the threats it faces and to shape its future for the better. All of their publications are free to download
HF Holidays is the only UK holiday provider that’s a co-operative. The Club is a shareholding activity club member and therefore benefits from group discounts on holidays and a contribution towards the cost of printing our quarterly programme. The Company also arrange discounts from time to time with other organisations such as Rohan, Cotswold Outdoor, Paramo, Go Outdoors, Hi Tech, Benenden Health, coeliac uk .
The Walking Partnership
This initiative supported by RWH Holidays aims to provide direct financial support to the grass roots of the walking community in the UK through local walking clubs and societies.
The club have registered with the Partnership and receive a payment whenever ‘Derby Nomad Ramblers’ is mentioned at the time a holiday is booked with ‘Ramblers holidays’.
Current payment rates are:
UK holidays £10 pp booked.
Short haul holidays £20 pp booked
Long haul holidays £30 pp booked.
The club feels these affiliations benefit members and walking as an activity. It has a Ramblers Association (RA) representative who attends local RA meetings to exchange information. It also has a footpath secretary who ensures the club does its best to preserve footpaths throughout Derbyshire.
