Derby Nomad Ramblers was established by Keith Hands, Bill Ross, Major Chadwick, Stan Turner and Arthur Whitaker at a meeting held at 5 Bloomfield Street, Derby on 5th. Sept 1935. Mr W Ross was appointed Hon. Sec. The inaugural Nomad Ramble took place on Sunday 8th September 1935 using for transport the old LMS 10-20 train ex. Derby to Edale. The walk over Kinder Scout included “Lunch” at “The Sportsman Inn” - Hayfield.

A reputation as the hardest walking club in Derbyshire was acquired, but the club has mellowed and walks are now organised to suit most abilities.

Today the club has over 90 members and growing.
