This was a fantastic weekend no other word to describe a classic Nomad trip to the Malvern hill. The early autumn weekend trip to the Malvern hills over the years become the basis for some great fire side stories, tails of cider, conkers, excellent walking and general high sprits. The Youth Hostel provided accommodation on Friday and Saturday night with member arriving from mid afternoon to late evening. Those arriving early had the opportunity to enjoy a meal out together at the Railway Inn just a few hundred yards for the hotel. The walk on Saturday started from the hostel climbing straight up to the Wych Inn before heading north and ascending Worcestershire Beacon followed by North Hill and finally End Hill before turning south taking the western flank of the hills to return to the Wych Inn for lunch. The afternoon walk headed south over the ridge crossing the A4104 at Wynds Point before Climbing Herefordshire Beacon. The return trip to the Hostel was on the Eastern flank of the hills bring the walk back to the Hostel. To a round of tea, cake and biscuits swiftly followed by more tea. shower and change ready for the evening meal, this time in the Wych Inn. The Saturday evening meal was an event on its own by retracing the morning walk to the Wych Inn. As with all good evening it passed all to quickly and we soon found ourselves heading back down in the dark to the Hostel. The walk on Sunday started form Herefordshire Beacon following the hills south down to Chase End Hill then east to the village of Eastnor, Eastnor Park via the Obelisk before returning to the cars park on the A4104 by Herefordshire Beacon. |
